Which women do other women feel more jealous of?

Sample: 51 heterosexual women and 49 homosexual women.

Participants were shown images of other women’s faces and asked - "Imagine this person is flirting with your romantic partner (if you don’t currently have one, imagine that you do). How strongly would you feel jealous?". The presented images of women’s faces were separately rated for femininity by a different group of women and additionally assessed using a mathematical model.

Shown: both groups showed greater jealousy toward women whose faces were rated as more feminine. The effect was weaker among homosexual women. According to earlier research, feminine facial features in women include characteristics such as large eyes, full lips, a smaller jaw and chin, higher eyebrows, and smoother facial contours.
