Is a sense of humor innate or shaped by environment and experience?

Sample: 448 pairs of identical twins and 196 pairs of fraternal twins.

Participants rated their own sense of humor (subjective assessment) as well as their sibling's sense of humor. Then, they wrote funny captions for pictures, which were evaluated by a group of 40 respondents (conditionally objective assessment).

Shown: genetics weakly influence people's perceptions of their own sense of humor - identical twins generally rated themselves and each other more similarly than fraternal twins. In the case of the conditionally objective assessment, no connections were found - genetics do not manifest in this matter. The captions for the pictures by identical and fraternal twins do not differ in ratings. A possible reason is that humor is shaped by experience and environment. Self-assessment of humor is not related to the assessments of external observers.
