The use of dating apps and attitudes towards cosmetic surgery.
The use of dating apps and attitudes towards cosmetic surgery.
Sample: 308 women with an average age of 25 years.
Participants underwent an assessment of the frequency of dating app usage, an evaluation of attitudes towards cosmetic surgery, and an assessment of self-presentation style - "real" self-presentation if the information in the dating app about oneself is authentic, and "deceptive" if the information is false or exaggerated.
Shown: women who used dating apps reported significantly more positive attitudes towards cosmetic surgery compared to women who did not use these apps. Women using dating apps were more likely to have undergone at least one cosmetic procedure. "Deceptive" self-presentation is associated with a positive attitude towards cosmetic surgery. However, no links were found between the frequency of dating app usage and attitudes towards cosmetic surgery.
