Which people are we more willing to help?
Which people are we more willing to help?
Sample: 120 subjects.
Participants were given 40 descriptions of people to read, in which indicators of personality traits according to the Big Five model varied. They were then asked who they liked and whom they were more willing to help - for example, help with financial difficulties, help crossing a railway crossing, help with heavy luggage, or simply listen to personal problems.
Shown: agreeableness and conscientiousness turned out to be the most important traits influencing helping decisions. People described as more conscientious and agreeable received higher ratings of willingness to help and were also liked more, and this relationship was particularly strong among participants who themselves were more conscientious and agreeable. Openness to experience and extraversion were not related to the desire to help a person. The study assessed only hypothetical willingness to help.
