What kind of music is more likely to make you want to dance?
Sample: 102 participants aged 23 to 28.
Participants were presented with popular pop hits from their teenage years. They were asked to rate the musical compositions based on recognition and the feeling of nostalgia they evoked. Participants also indicated how much each song made them want to tap, move, or dance.
Shown: high ratings for nostalgia and song recognition are associated with increased enjoyment of the song, as well as a desire to tap or move. However, the desire to start dancing is more closely related to the feeling of nostalgia evoked by the song. The authors suggest that songs that evoke a sense of nostalgia would be most effective for therapy involving rhythm and movement, used to address movement disorders. The study has numerous limitations, such as the use of only pop hits.
Like if "Raining Blood" by Slayer also brings back nostalgia and the urge to "dance"...
