Respondents, using different phrasing, were asked to report one risky choice in their lives - they were asked to describe a personal situation involving a risky or, conversely, safe decision, or a choice made by someone in their social circle.

Shown: the authors obtained a list of the 100 most risky decisions people face in everyday life. The list of risky decisions is fairly stable over time, including before and after the pandemic. The riskiest decisions are related to work, followed by health, then finances, then social life, and finally leisure (e.g., whether to travel alone).There are age-related differences - quitting a job is perceived as the riskiest in young adulthood, while changing jobs is riskiest in old age. The data is specific to Switzerland. The list likely differs significantly in Russia.
