Science is predominantly a male occupation?

Sample: 2 104 female biology faculty members and 3 721 male biology faculty members from 146 leading US universities.

The authors searched for and analyzed Wikipedia pages dedicated to biologist faculty members.

Shown: as of today, 9.36% of all female biologists have a Wiki page. Of all male biologists, 7.47% have a Wiki page. On average, a female biologist is more likely to have a Wiki page than a male biologist. Prior to 2018, the situation was the opposite - men were more likely to have a Wiki page. If a scientist's h-index is low, then men and women are represented on Wiki equally, but if the h-index is high, then more men are represented. Women's Wiki pages receive as many views as men's. Men have a higher average number of publications. The increase in the number of women's Wiki pages is associated with volunteer projects to promote the image of women in science.
